Marie Silva was born in upstate New York and was raised in and around both New York City and Miami, Florida. Growing up, Marie became fascinated with stories that drew readers into another world and as an adult, became inspired to create her own work. When she isn’t creating new stories, she’s spending time with her family and friends and enjoying life with cooking, baking and yoga. 

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I was born in upstate New York and was raised in and around both New York City and Miami, Florida. Growing up, I became fascinated with stories that drew readers into another world and as an adult, became inspired to create her own work. When I'm not creating new stories, I'm spending time with my family and friends and enjoying life with cooking, baking and yoga.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing in my early twenites and I became more serious about my work in 2020 as my corporate job was elminated due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I love telling stories from an unconventional viewpoint.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've always wanted to become an author, but at the time it was a challenge to get my work out to the right people. This has allowed me to evolve over the years. With the currently technology, it makes it easier to get my work out into the world for people to enjoy.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Well, all of my books are my favorite as they are unique yet special to me and I can't just pick one character as each one is my favorite in some way for different reasons.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

My first published book, Rediscovering the Stars with Grace, for this was the first time that I established my voice as an author. I received a lot of helpful feedback from friends who helped me evolve into a more authenthic writer.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I have many favorite books and authors. The Color Purple by Alice Walker is one that I often reread.

What book are you reading right now?

At this time I'm not reading any books as I'm focused on my work.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

It comes from my everyday experiences and I meditate on any ideas that come into my mind.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to practice yoga, be creative with my meals and bake yummy desserts.

Do you have any new books in the works?

My first sci-fi novel will be released sometime in May.
