ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Oscar Phillips was born and raised in a liberal state to Democrat parents. He was not the least bit interested in politics as a youngster, but as an adult, his ideology had been simmering beneath the surface for many years. And then, after watching the Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter 1980 presidential debate, he had an epiphany, instantaneously became a conservative and, over time, started moving further to the right. As he explains, “Some, if not most, conservatives start off being liberals, if they don’t already have Republican parents shaping their politics, and then commence moving upward. But yours truly was influenced by no one. I would have become the same right-winger even if Ronald Reagan had never existed."
