ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pierre G. Fowler wrote his first book, Away from a Wicked Mind, in 2011, marking the beginning of a heartfelt journey as a storyteller. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, he is the oldest of five children and attended Paul Robeson High School. After spending three years in Columbus, Ohio, he moved to New York in 2013, where he now resides in Brooklyn with his 14-year-old cat, Ty. When not writing, Pierre enjoys listening to music, catching up on favorite TV shows, traveling, trying new foods, and meeting new people. These passions fuel his creativity, helping craft stories exploring the complexities of human relationships, the triumph of resilience, and the beauty of personal growth. With a love for blending humor, romance, and adventure, Pierre aims to inspire readers to see themselves in his characters and stories.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I was born and raised in Chicago, but I live in Brooklyn with my cat, Ty. (He's 14.) I enjoy crime shows and docuseries. I also love to travel when I can and listen to music. I love trying new food and learning about different cultures. I love anything science. My favorite show is Forensic Files.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing when I was about 13. I started out writing songs and poems. When I turned 17 I started writing Life with Francis. I started writing because I was always shy and didn't find my voice back then. So, writing was my outlet for expressing myself.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've always wanted to see my name in print and to write because it is fun and exciting to tell stories and bring them to life.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I’d have to say that Francis and Giorgio from Life with Francis are my favorite characters. Francis holds a special place in my heart because she feels like a teenage girl version of myself, while Giorgio is based on my reflections and experiences.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Away From a Wicked Mind was the hardest book I’ve ever written. It came from an era in my life when I was grappling with deep depression and heartbreak after losing a close friend—a friendship that had the potential to blossom into something more. The years between 2010 and 2012 were incredibly challenging for me. Navigating life while juggling my writing felt like an uphill battle, especially during such an emotionally trying time.

Who is your favourite author and book?

J.K. Rowling and all of her Harry Potter books.

What book are you reading right now?

Urban Gothic by Brian Keene.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I draw inspiration from the nostalgic memories of my younger days. Life with Francis is a heartfelt ode to my teenage years, capturing the essence of my high school experiences and the moments that shaped me.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy listening to music, shopping, watching my favorite shows, and ordering Chinese food.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I'm currently working on the second installment of Life with Francis.
