ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I’m a writer of fantasy books and the music that accompanies them. My fiction is neither steamy nor very stabby, certainly not explicit in either subject. It’s aimed at an adult audience, with adult themes, and I include LGBTQ characters. I believe that the power of creativity is magic; it influences the emotions of readers, listeners, and viewers. I promise to weave that magic into everything I create. Accompanied of course by some adventure, a bit of romance, and a healthy dose of humor.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I'm retired from the regular world, doing all the creative things I love to do. I write fantasy books and make music, playing guitar and writing songs, often inspired by my books. I took up archery last year, and am very much enjoying that.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started as a teenager, wrote a half a dozen books and a pile of short stories, back in the dark ages before indie publishing existed. I took a long break and started writing again after retirement.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've loved reading since I was small. I love to write. It all came together.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I don't know that I have any. I tend to write about minstrels, because I like weaving music and the reaction to music into my books.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The Skin of the World. It's a long book, and spans centuries of history, a linked set of stories. I decided to use Tarot cards in it, then I decided that each story would be loosely based on The Fool's Journey, which is defined by the Tarot's major trumps.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Guy Gavriel Kay, A Song for Arbonne.

What book are you reading right now?

Between, by L. L. Starling

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

All over. I do need to sit down and think once an original touch of inspiration hits. But ideas just pop up.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Reading, archery, exercise, relaxing, playing guitar and recording music.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I just finished a series, so I'm considering what to do next.
