ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Samara Black was born and raised in Oregon. She started writing short stories and weird poems at age nine. She continued writing as a hobby in college, typing out silly stories with her roommate and came up with the idea for her first book series when she should have been studying for an economics test. After several dysfunctional friendships, toxic relationships, and family entanglements she had enough source material to write stories about characters with messy lives and even messier problems that come their way. Samara currently lives in Seattle with her family, including several pets who think they’re in charge. In her free time, her hobbies include reading, photography, chasing pests out of her garden, and annoying her teenaged children.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I’m an executive assistant by day, romantic suspense writer at nights/weekends. I’m also a parent to two teenaged boys, and we also care for several rescue critters.

When and why did you start writing books?

I came up with the idea of my first story in college, but didn’t start writing books until about ten years ago as an escape from a toxic work environment.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I always wrote poems (not good ones) and silly little stories when I was a kid. One weekend when I was in college, my roommate and I were bored and decided to just start typing out a story on an old typewriter. It was probably one of the silliest, absurd stories ever but I really enjoyed the process. That’s probably how I came up with the idea for my first book when I should have been studying for an economics test instead!

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

I pretty much grew up with Larissa Donovan. Her story originally started as a romantic comedy (!!), but as my life evolved and matured, her story also evolved and matured into a romantic suspense series.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Too many great books written by amazing people to pick just one! Mia Knight, Sara Cate, and Siobhan Davis are some of my favorites

What book are you reading right now?

“Bitter Confessions” by Mia Knight. It’s the third book in her Singed series and…wowza!!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I usually get inspiration for my stories from some very strange places. Studying for a test, sitting in traffic, looking up a dip recipe are just a few of them.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love photography – taking pictures of animals or places.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Of course! I currently have three series in various stages of development. One is a spin-off of The Asset series. A second one if a thriller revolving around a cult, which I often call my “creepy cult book” online. The third one is still just a bunch of abstract ideas at this point, but I’m still determined to turn it into a story.
