ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stephen Wise earned a BA in film production from the University of Central Florida. He directed the award-winning pilot for the TV series "Blackwater Blues" starring Corin Nemec and Jason London and co-wrote "Batman DarKnight", which IFC lists as one of the best unproduced Batman screenplays. Among his accolades, Stephen wrote and directed the short film “Sur’vi”, which was screened in over 60 film festivals worldwide and received 20 awards. His feature-length screenplay "Paradigm" won six awards internationally, and his screenplay "Maelstrom" won Best Creature Horror Script at the 2022 Horror Bowl Movie Awards. He also received five American Advertising Federation, or Addy, awards. His short story “The Melting Man” and collection of short stories "Portals of the Mind" are available on Amazon. Stephen also has experience on the other side of film festivals. As the Director of Programming for Pensacon, he headed up the Pensacon Short Film Festival and also ran the short film festival for the Pensacola Indie Fringe and Comedy Festival. Additionally, he was a judge for both the Bluecat Screenplay Competition and the screenplay portion of the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival. Stephen is a published author, with a collection of short stories entitled "Portals of the Mind" and the stand-alone story “The Melting Man” both available on various platforms. In addition to his duties for Pensacon, Stephen is Creative Services producer, and has received five American Advertising Federation, or Addy, awards. He lives in Pensacola. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I enjoy being in the outdoors, especially bike riding, camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and white water rafting.

When and why did you start writing books?

I have been writing stories my entire life and even taught myself how to type when I was a child.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I have a film background and am an award-winning screenwriter. I wanted to shift my focus to prose to be able to have more control over my work.

Who is your favourite author and book?

My favorite author is Stephen King and "The Stand" is my favorite book of all time.

What book are you reading right now?

I am reading "Fairy Tale" by Stephen King.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Inspiration comes from a variety of sources. Usually it happens when I'm on my bike or out for a walk and an idea pops into my mind, "What if..."

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I am working on adapting a couple screenplays I wrote into novels.
