ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wayne M. Bailey has recently published his debut science fiction novel - The Mars Migration.

Born and raised in Walsall, England, Wayne worked as an apprentice electrician before leaving the practical side of the electrical field to move into sales.

During his youth, Wayne’s fascination with the unknown was sparked when he witnessed a UFO in his hometown, also learning about his father’s own UFO experience, barely two streets away. This, coupled with being a science fiction movie geek, growing up in the eighties with the amazing selection of films that we did, provided the inspiration for creating a science fiction work of his own.

Wayne is an engaging author who loves to interact with people on social media. He loves to read about UFO reports and space developments in general. He loves his family, loves an ale, and holidays. He particularly loves the South west of England, Cornwall and South Devon, also all parts of Wales.

Wayne's main objective is that people simply enjoy the story that he has to tell.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Hi, I'm Wayne, I work full-time, I recently had the desire to explore writing as an outlet for my weird mind. I don't generally do a lot hobby wise. I enjoy going to the football at weekends with my wife, I enjoy holidays and having a catch up with my now grown up kids. I like an ale, I enjoy movies, box-sets and I collect vintage action figures.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started thinking about writing something, just coming up to the Christmas of 2019. It just came to me to try it - as a hobby to start with. I had so much positive feedback with my first attempt, that I decided that I should see how far I could push my first book - The Mars Migration.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

It's not a full-time career yet, but maybe one day, who knows? It depends if people like my books :-)

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

So far, as its my first book, it has to be The Mars Migration. But I think this one will always be my favorite.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The Mars Migration took me three years from initial conception to fully published. It kept me awake so many nights, thinking about the story, and then the inevitable plot holes that a story involving time travel plus different time-zones brings.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I would have to say my favorite author would be Stephen King. My favorite work of his would be 'IT'

What book are you reading right now?

I am currently working my way through the Harry Potter books (again!)

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I would say that I have been heavily influenced by films like Interstellar, Donnie Darko, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Total Recall, Close Encounters of the third kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Event Horizon, Terminator, E.T, I could go on and on. I also love Stranger Things. Also, when my Dad was young (around 1977) He saw a UFO, and then I was younger (around 1989-1993) I saw one, it was in the same area that my Dad would have seen his. So I have always been interested in Ufology.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I don't get a lot of spare time, but when I do, I like to write a bit more, or maybe put the Xbox on for a little bit. I love to go away for the weekend to the coast if time allows.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am just now putting ideas together for a sequel book to The Mars Migration.
