Most of us are aware of the age old saying ‘Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.’ Well Ryder Haynes is the exception, being completely oblivious to the fact that words carry weight she learns about the power she holds in her tongue the hard way.

Twelve years ago, Ryder uttered the cruelest words no daughter should ever say to their mother. Now she’s back home to bid her mother a premature farewell. However, Ryder soon learns that her mother’s death wasn’t from natural causes and her death may possibly have been at the hands of someone very close to her.

Once she learns her mother’s death is more than what meets the eye, Ryder takes it upon herself to find the person responsible for her mother’s untimely demise, much to the chagrin of the lead detective in charge of the investigation: Chad Wilson. Refusing to take heed to the weary and seasoned veteran detective's warning, Ryder finds herself taking on more than she could ever imagine.
