Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror

The Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror is the first book in a science fiction-horror series by Steve Alten about a deep-sea diver and paleontologist, Jonas Taylor, who discovers and later seeks to prove the existence of the Carcharodon megalodon, a massive, prehistoric shark, in the Mariana Trench. The plot follows Taylor's quest for scientific vindication as he returns to the trench, which becomes a fight for survival when the ancient predator is unleashed to prey on the surface world. The novel was adapted into a 2018 film of the same name starring Jason Statham.
