ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Boadi —a ‘young’ woman in her sixties, a mother, and nanny—walked away from her toxic four-decades-long marriage that was beyond saving in search of a more authentic, joyous life. When Boadi set the intention in 2019 to leave the only relationship she’d ever known and start her life anew, she had no idea how she would figure it all out. But in finding the courage and resolve to make such a life-altering decision, and walking bravely in the direction of this new life she could not yet see but felt drawn to, she marveled at how people showed up and places shone brightly to guide her way. The opportunities and tools to grow and heal appeared right on time! Boadi traveled solo along the East Coast of Australia for most of 2021/2022, and on that boundless journey, she let her fears have their way with her. Being out on the road offered the perfect backdrop to reinvent herself. She changed her name, downsized her life into what would fit into her RAV4, traveled across three State lines more than once, got good at not needing a comfort zone to run to, and found friendships along the way. She is still on the road, shedding aspects of herself to expand into her new life! Boadi has settled (for now) on the coast in the Hunter region of New South Wales so she can delight in the ocean every day. She flies home to hug grandchildren and grown-ups every chance she gets! To heal is to reframe our view of whom we believe we are. Boadi believes life gets sweeter by the day when we allow ourselves to be guided by our hearts—when intuition is accepted as conversations with our Higher Self, when we fearlessly adopt the path of non-resistance and come to know that the self IS love. In her first book - WOMEN GOING SOBER: An Empowerment Guide for Women Going Alcohol-Free and Embracing Being a Non-Drinker - Boadi shares how she fell into the habit of drinking. How everywhere she turned, someone she loved or cared deeply for had this self-harming relationship with alcohol - be it a daughter, a mother, a sister, a girlfriend, and of course, her own journey to healing. Boadi invited women to share their raw inspiring stories of what it took to get sober. WOMEN GOING SOBER contains strong female perspectives of women who are finding their way on the path to sobriety. Because, as her book will show, the damaging impact of alcohol on the body, specifically on female bodies, is there. Not only physically, but also socially and mentally. Perhaps the time has come to see the evidence for what it really is and for women to take a brave step of making intentional change toward healing.
