ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I’ve spent my life dreaming up stories, and now it’s time to start sharing them. What do I write? A little of everything, from funny to fantasy, serious to serial, romantic to rhyming. Right now, I’m into poetry and character-driven middle-grade novels. With 32 years spent in classrooms and libraries, maybe I know how kids think? And, like Peter Pan, I’ve never really grown up, so come fly with me. My books are fast-paced, emotional adventures that uplift the soul. My characters are searching for a home, and in the end, though “home” takes many forms, they always find one.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Well, it's gotta be creative writing! I also enjoy crafts such as laser engraving, travel (when I can afford it), and pickleball.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing almost as soon as I could read. I couldn't seem to help myself. I'd read a book and think I could do that. In fact, I might do it better--or at least create the characters and endings I wanted.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Writing is my second career. I taught while I honed my writing skills. Once I retired from education, I began sharing my writing with the world. Promoting and marketing take up a lot of my time, but I set my own schedule now and get great satisfaction from writing books others want to read.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My latest, of course! I am very excited that my fifth book begins a science fiction trilogy for adults. Sci-fi is one of my favorite genres.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

They are all hard in different ways. Novels get easier to draft once you understand their structure and the need for detailed planning before writing.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I really like JoJo Moyes, Jenny Colgan, Janet Evanovich, Naomi Novic, and Deborah Harkness, to name a few.

What book are you reading right now?

The Girl You Left Behind

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Other authors, conferences, and getting together with my writing friends.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Answered in the first question.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Persephone Rising, Book 1 in the Genesis Planet Series, should be out in March.
