ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born into a Bible-based cult, the Mission of the Holy Spirit, from the fourth generation, M. L. Francoeur (Michel Laflèche Francoeur) is, first and foremost, a survivor. He experienced domestic violence and parental abandonment due to his parent’s depressive state and was a victim of sexual abuse in his childhood after his family left that first cult.

Introduced to Scientology at eleven by his parents, he frequented that controversial cult for more than twenty years.

Michel gained control over drug and alcohol addiction and left Scientology in his early thirties.

However, he kept searching for meaning in other controversial religious movements, which led him to the Brahma Kumaris, another controversial movement, he frequented very briefly. He ended his chaotic spiritual journey in Pentecostal Christian churches in a sorry psychological state.

With resiliency and courage, after going through deprogramming that obliged him to rethink his approach regarding his spirituality, he puts down in writing the knowledge he acquired regarding brainwashing and coercive techniques that were used on him, mostly in Scientology.
