ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Morgan Quaid is an Australian writer of urban fantasy, horror, and litRPG, specializing in fast-paced page turners set against expansive fantasy backdrops. When Morgan isn’t writing novels, comics, graphic novels, or short stories, he’s usually composing or producing music, or staring with longing and regret at a bar of chocolate.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I'm an Australian writer (g'day) and music producer based in Brisbane. I write urban fantasy, horror, and litRPG novels, short stories, screenplays, comic book, graphic novels, and truly terrible poetry. I also write music for film and tv and firmly beleive that activities like gardening and home renovations are the absolute WORST.

When and why did you start writing books?

15 years ago when I was....younger.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've always loved creating and have been drawn to writing (particularly fantasy) for a long time. I've tried at different times throughout my life to make writing a primary focus financially but it can be a real struggle. So, after quite a while managing a day job and writing on the side, I'm finally in a possition to start looking at writing as a full time career.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Rook from The Seven Hungers. She's not a main character, but she's, frankly, awesome!

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Book four of the Seven Hungers Series. I'd walked the series into a bit of a corner and with three books of history behind me, I found it difficult to work my way out of it (it was also my first book 4 in a series).

Who is your favourite author and book?

Depends what mood I'm in but Kraken by China Mieville is right up there.

What book are you reading right now?

One of Dan Abnett's Warhammer 40k novels - the second Ravenor book.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Life, tv, film, other books, stupid questions I ask myself, and the strange thoughts that plague me when I'm lying in bed trying to sleep.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Hahahahahaha....oh, you're serious. No spare time. It's writing, promoting, research, more writing, editing (uuuggghh....editing), networking, meetings....etc. Although, sometimes I do get the itch and spend an hour or two playing a computer game or a tabletop game with my son.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Always. Blood Hunter, a new series spin off from the Seven Hungers is dropping in a few months, so I'm just doing the final edit on that. There's a new urban fantasy series coming this year called Raven Marked (a theif who interrupts a cult summoning and gets marked by an infernal deity...infernal tattoos on her body, etc.). I'll also be launching a litRPG series called Rogue Mancer, which I'm very excited about. And, potentially a western horror urban fantasy novel as well if it pans out.
