Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

My name is Nick Haskins. I’m from and currently live in Toledo, Ohio. My main hobby is spending as much time with my family as possible. I don’t have any children, but I adore my nieces and nephews.

When and why did you start writing books?

Since I was very young, I could tap into stories and characters anytime. At around eight years old, I would amaze myself with the ongoing story I created in my imagination. I started writing that story about ten years later, which became my first book.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Around 2008, I read a Mary B. Morrison novel, and something ignited in me that never shut off. I fell in love with the art of writing and wanted to make my readers feel the way I felt reading Mary B. Morrison’s book.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I don’t have a favorite book, but the readers’ favorite seems to be still My Husband’s Wife. And I love all the characters I create because I can feel each so vividly.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Definitely, my new book, Dark Waters, stretched me the most because It didn’t start as a novel like my other books. It was initially a screenplay I wrote in 2021 that I decided to turn into an Amazon Kindle Vella Story in 2022. When I didn’t get the response I wanted from Kindle Vella, I turned it into a novel in 2023, and it was a lot of work!

Who is your favourite author and book?

Carl Weber is my favorite author, and my favorite books are The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah and Something On the Side by Carl Weber.

What book are you reading right now?

I’m reading She’s Obsessed and Dark Waters by me, LOL! I am getting both ready for physical distribution, so that’s all I’ve been reading lately.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Except for She’s Obsessed, the stories come to me—sometimes inspired by life or a particular event, or it’ll come as a creative fiction story. From there, I trust the process and write what I feel.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Family and friends are still my favorite pastime.

Do you have any new books in the works?

My new book, Dark Waters, is part of a three-book series. I’m working on book two, which I want to release next summer (fingers crossed). I’m also starting a new audible series later this year that I am very excited about.
