ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michelle Romano is a writer and licensed social worker from Minnesota, with training in mental health, grief and loss. She has been writing since childhood. When she is not writing, she enjoys fostering rescue dogs, volunteering, traveling, and spending time with her soulmate, friends, and family. Writing helps heal her soul.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I live in Minnesota with my soulmate, Lawrence. I am half Italian American (father) and half German (mother). I love to travel. When I was 14 years old, my family lived in Malaysia for one year and traveled all throughout Southeast Asia - what an experience! I have been a licensed school social worker for the past 26 years - it's my true calling in life. I counsel youth who have mental health, grief/loss, crisis and trauma backgrounds. For fun, I enjoy writing, putting together puzzles, playing badminton, volunteering and entertaining.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing books in elementary school in a club, and continued writing throughout my life. My first book was published in 2003, and my second in 2018, with a revision of that book (Finding Faith) in 2023. I love to write, especially when I feel emotion, because that emotion goes into my writing.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I am not a full-time author, but I enjoy writing.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Faith in Finding Faith because she goes through many hardships to find what she is looking for.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Finding Faith because of all of the revisions and things that I needed to cut out of that book to make it sound and flow better.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I really love Rebecca Gannon - her book called Maine Attraction, and Nicholas Sparks - his book called Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas.

What book are you reading right now?

Broken: Not a halal love story by Fatima Bala (new author, who captivates the reader through her writing)

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Emotion. When I feel emotion especially sadness or inspiration, I love to write.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I run a meetup.com group and so I love meeting others through common interests. I also love to travel, and garden.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, a book about grief/loss and a christian fiction with a paranormal twist.
